By the Creek
Public Space (Eatery & Market) (2025)

An organized space with the ambience of sitting street side. Visitors can purchase their food and drinks to then find seating and places to gather at different levels and platforms to have the social experience feel more organic and less commercial. Every platform and space would be unique yet the hodgepodge of spaces are still delicately designed to feel warm and comfortable being under a bridge.
Gather at different levels and platforms to have the social experience feel more organic and less commercial.
Eatery by the Creek
By carving out spaces into the ground to create negative spaces with seat height ledges that create affordances for seating and gathering under the bridge. Without forcefully adding furnitures and fixtures to mimic the organic element of seated interactions that might take place by the river banks in the past century of Shanghai.
Market by the Creek
G502 highway intersection with Wanhangdu Rd (Shanghai, China)
The Suzhou Creek, technically being a river, is an important connection between the main Huangpu River of Shanghai, the ocean, and the urban neighborhoods of the city. The river as we know now is tangled with highway bridges, busy intersections, office buildings, fancy new highrise apartments, and modern shopping districts.
